are several Case Studies of actual members of the
BRIGHT Foundation. These parents have told their
story so that other parents can learn from their
experiences, but also they wish others to give
them new ideas as to how they can continue to help
their children. We
hope that you utilize our discussion board to
begin a conversation about these stories.
Tell a little about your experiences, ask a
question. We are looking forward to hearing
from you. Professional opinions
welcome. |

Corbyn
-
The medical tests revealed the
monster lurking in the brain of 7-
week-old Corbyn, a slowly leaking
sac of blood about the size of an
adult thumb. Every passing second
put the child in greater danger. If
the aneurysm wasn't removed, Corbyn
would certainly die, but chances
were slim she would survive the
surgery. Even
if the surgery succeeds, what's the
result? A disabled child? A serious
emotional burden to the family for
the rest of their lives? Karyn
had to give her daughter the
chance. Read about Corbyn's
victory against the odds.

Gerard
- Gerard
was born on 10 October 1995 in Vienna,
Austria. He weighed 5 kg and looked
completely healthy. When he was two days
old, he was taken to the emergency
unit. At this time, he had only
20% blood Oxygen saturation. He
was diagnosed with a Transposition of
the Major Arteries, a serious heart
defect where the Pulmonary Artery and
Aorta are switched. He was operated on
to sever and sew the Arteries into the
correct position. He had major
complications including Hydrocephalus
(water on the brain). A CT showed
that he had extensive hypoxic brain
damage. He is now six years old
and after an extensive home therapy
program to optimize the plasticity of
his brain, he has made remarkable
progress. Read about his
success.
